A few shots I took walking around Bristol City center the day the EDL came to march here

Anti-EDL at st augustines parade

Anti-EDL at st augustines parade

Drizzle in Brizzle for the Anti-EDL

All entrances blocked to Queen Square where EDL started and ended their march

Plenty police and their vehicles on every street

The front of what was to be the anti-EDL march down Baldwin street

Small part of the anti-EDL procession

More anti's

Police walling used to stop any possible access to queen square via main roads

More of the anti-procession on Baldwin street

Police setup to stop procession moving too far from castle park

Numbers started building up at intersection top of baldwin street

EDL , police and these hotel workers were behind the police blockages to the queen square grid

Those smoking hotel workers were behind this

Anti-protest didn't move too far into the castle park area

Anti-EDL march made up of several groups

The police numbers were huge but seemed friendly

Being a motorist at this time must have sucked

Lots of different regional police divisions spotted

swish!

Just behind us , again area covered with police

with a bit of kettling it did appear to get a bit cosy
On the other side of the river

Behind these guys was the EDL

EDL can just be seen in the background

Round the back and above the EDLcrowd

Slowly but surely the EDL are moved back to their final destination of queen square

Strong chanting as they moved away

The way the EDL just marched blocked off

The one point when both groups could see each other , EDL on the left , anti-EDL on the bridge at the top of the picture, chanting elevated on both sides

Anti-EDL in full swing but surrounding area getting quieter as whole event begins to wind down

Queen SQ and all access still blocked, whole thing well contained and groups seperated

It wasn't possible to see the EDL or clearly hear their loudspeakers
As a massive contrast to the EDL and anti-EDL event , gay pride had been kicking off in full party swing at college green

It was weird not seeing a single police man in view

5 minutes away were both the EDL and anti-EDL, but you couldn't tell here
